RECENT WORK

Words of War

His latest project is feature film Words of War, a powerful and inspiring thriller based upon a true story of pioneering Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya’s journey from local print journalist to international human rights hero.

His other recent work includes Crime, Irvine Welsh’s first ever TV series; CBS’s Fire Country, the breakout US network new show in 2022; and, Vigil, BBC1’s hit thriller starring Suranne Jones, and for which James won his latest BAFTA for Best Director.

James is best known for his work on ITV’s Broadchurch, for which he was nominated for Best Director at the BAFTA Craft Awards 2014, the same year the show won 6 BAFTA’s including Best Drama Series.
